Blaze destroys two mobile homes and four cars but Marin County firefighters save 1870s-era farmhouse, officials say.
A fire destroyed two mobile homes and four cars at the historic C Ranch in West Marin Tuesday night, displacing two families – six adults and six children – who were living there, according to Marin County Fire officials.
County firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a mobile home on the historic property in the 22000 block of Sir Frances Drake Blvd just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber said.
Two mobile homes and four cars were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene, Weber said, and the historic, 1870s-era farmhouse on the property was being threatened by the blaze.
Firefighters stretched hose lines between the structures, defending and ultimately saving the historic farmhouse, Weber said. Fire crews, which also included personnel from Ross Valley Fire, Novato Fire, Inverness Fire and the National Park Service, planned to stay at the scene until the fire was completely extinguished, according to Weber.
Cross was called to the scene to provide emergency shelter and supplies for the two displaced families. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Marin County Fire Marshal.
