The UC Marin Master Gardeners and the Ross Valley Fire Department are creating a Community Demonstration Garden that will demonstrate the use of drought tolerant California Native plants to create a fire resistant habitat. The garden is replacing the front lawn area at RVFD Station 20 on Butterfield Road.
We have scheduled a series of volunteer work days to give members of the community an opportunity to get involved in this project. Come on by to lend a hand, meet the Marin Master Gardener volunteers, and learn about gardening and creating habitat with California native drought tolerant and fire resistive plants. The month of March we will continue with soil and irrigation preparation. In April we will begin to plant shrubs, small trees, and perennials as the weather allows and as they become available. We will hopefully will be finishing up the planting in May.
