Council Member Kuhl has lived in Ross for 38 years with his wife Janey. They were active in Ross Recreation activities while their children attended Ross School and have maintained an interest in community affairs since. He is interested in making local government as transparent as possible and maximizing citizen involvement.  His degrees are from Cornell University and Stanford law school.  He has practiced as a trial attorney in San Francisco for over 50 years, serving also as a temporary judge, mediator, and arbitrator. He has also served as a board member and president of a homeowner’s association at Lake Tahoe, as a member of the national board and president of a region of the American  Platform Tennis Association, as president of the Lagunitas Club, and as a member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury. He volunteers as a settlement panelist in the Superior Courts of San Francisco and Marin. He was elected to the Ross Town Council in June 2012 and re-appointed for a second term in 2016, and a third term in 2020. He has served as Mayor in FY 2013-2014, and FY 2018-2019.
