Welcome to Ross Valley Fire Department We are a consolidated fire agency protecting the communities of Ross, Fairfax, San Anselmo, and Sleepy Hollow in Marin County, California. Formed July 1, 1982, the full-time fire department employs a Fire Chief, Fire Inspector, Administrative Assistant, 34 Firefighters including nine Paramedics, and fifteen Volunteer Firefighters staffing three Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine companies.  Our Mission Protecting lives, property and the environment of Ross, San Anselmo, Sleepy Hollow, and Fairfax through education, prevention and community service while working together in a professional and caring manner that is fair, honest, respectful and ethical.

PRESS RELEASE.  For immediate release: The Ross Valley Fire Department Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Mark Mills as the new Ross Valley Fire Department Chief. Mills will replace long-time Fire Chief Roger Meagor, who retired in December. Currently the Assistant Fire Chief of the Big Bear Fire Department, Mills is a 27-year veteran of the fire service. He began his career in firefighting in Newberry, South Carolina and has been with the Big Bear Fire Department since 2006.  Mills has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University and is currently pursuing his Master of Public Administration Degree.  He...

Insulate your exposed pipes and cover frost-tender plants to prevent possible damage.  Below is information on how to wrap your pipes and cover your plants. A fire that started in a San Anselmo garage was controlled in less than 15 minutes by Ross Valley firefighters early Monday, November 18, 2013.  An aggressive fire attack by Fire Captain Isaac Wilson's crew on Medic Engine 20 from the Sleepy Hollow Fire Station #20, aided by three other engine crews, is credited with limiting damage at 217 Oak Springs Drive.  The fire started at approximately 3:30 a.m. near an electric car in the garage; when fire crews arrived flames were shooting out the doors and lapping at a second-story deck as well as the roof line, said Battalion Chief...
